Pricing & Scope

What does a website cost at Webgentic?

The four packages sit in these ranges: Starter (landing page) 1,490–3,500 €, Business (corporate site) 3,490–6,500 €, Custom (bespoke Next.js site) 7,900–17,500 €, Commerce (online shop) 4,900–11,000 €. Plus an Accessibility Audit from 1,500 €. All prices fixed, net, no VAT (German small-business rule, §19 UStG).

Why is this more expensive than a 1,000 € freelancer?

Cheaper offers typically use WordPress kit builders, off-the-shelf themes, shared templates and no accessibility or performance budget. Webgentic ships individually built Next.js sites with BFSG-ready accessibility, green Core Web Vitals, no cookie-banner tax and full domain/hosting control on your end.

The price gap is the gap between a product still maintainable in three years and one you have to replace after eighteen months.

Why is there no VAT on the invoice?

Webgentic operates under the German small-business scheme (§19 UStG). Invoices carry no VAT. For customers without input-tax deduction (medical practices, alternative practitioners, educational providers, non-profits) that is effectively a ~19 % saving versus VAT-liable suppliers. For VAT-registered businesses the effect is neutral.

Do you offer instalments?

Standard schedule: 30 % at project start, 30 % at design sign-off, 40 % at go-live. Starter projects skip the design milestone (60/40). Alternative plans are agreed case by case, especially if a project would push us past the small-business annual threshold (25,000 €); it then gets partially split into the following year.

Do I have to book a maintenance retainer after launch?

No. Every project runs fine without one. Next.js sites on Vercel need structurally less maintenance than WordPress. A retainer pays off if you change content regularly (from Standard 99 €/month incl. 1 h of work), want a clear point of contact during incidents or run active SEO. Basic hosting monitoring starts at 49 €/month.

Process & Timeline

How long does a project take?

Starter 5–10 business days. Business 2–4 weeks. Custom 4–8 weeks. Commerce 3–6 weeks. These windows start at kick-off and assume content and approvals come back within agreed deadlines. The modern stack makes weeks-not-months realistic, classic agencies take 3–6 months for comparable projects.

What is the actual process?

Four phases:

(1) Kick-off, goal, audience, content architecture. (2) Design in Figma with a clickable preview for sign-off. (3) Build with a live preview URL you can visit anytime. (4) Go-live including a hand-off session for content editing plus 30 days of aftercare on Business/Custom/Commerce.

Communication: email and scheduled calls. No always-on Slack presence, it protects both of our focus time.

What do you expect from me as a client?

Three things: (a) a clear view of which business goal the site has to support; (b) content (copy, images, logo), or approval for me to handle copywriting and asset sourcing as an add-on; (c) reliable feedback inside agreed deadlines so project windows hold. I say up-front when something is missing, I don't guess behind your back.

How many revision rounds are included?

Starter: 1 revision after launch. Business: 2 revision rounds. Custom: 3 revision rounds plus 30 days of aftercare. A revision round is consolidated feedback in one pass, not 47 emails over three weeks. Anything beyond that is billed transparently at 110 €/h or bundled via a retainer.

Technology

Which technology do you use, and why not WordPress?

Default is Next.js 16 on Vercel; Shopify or WooCommerce for shops. Versus WordPress: meaningfully better Core Web Vitals, smaller attack surface, no permanent update treadmill, structurally cheaper maintenance.

I can build in WordPress on request but actively advise against it for new projects, unless an existing editorial team must stay on WP.

Can I edit content myself?

Yes. From the Business package up, a headless CMS (Sanity, Payload or Strapi) ships with the project, including a two-hour training session (remote or on-site in Munich / Fürstenfeldbruck). The interface is built for editors, not developers.

Who hosts the site and who owns the domain?

Hosting on Vercel by default. The Vercel account is created in your name, the site belongs to you, not me. Same for the domain: registrar access (Strato, INWX or your preferred registrar) stays with you. I receive collaboration access for as long as you engage me; it can be revoked at any time.

Do I own the source code?

Yes. On final payment you receive unrestricted, exclusive usage rights to all content, designs and code produced for you. The code lives in a private Git repository (GitHub, transferable to your account). The only exceptions: open-source libraries keep their respective licences (MIT, Apache etc.); stock photos keep their respective licences.

Will my site be BFSG-compliant?

Every new Webgentic project is built against WCAG 2.1 AA, the technical benchmark of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), in force since 28 June 2025. For a formal conformance report with audit write-up there is a separate Accessibility Audit service (from 1,500 €). Existing sites not built by Webgentic can be brought up to standard via an Audit + Remediation bundle (from 4,500 €).

What about GDPR, cookies and fonts?

Default stance: no tracking cookies, no Google Fonts via CDN (EuGH ruling 2022), no third-party scripts without a data-processing agreement. Analytics via cookieless tooling (Plausible or Vercel Web Analytics), no consent banner required. Fonts are self-hosted.

Privacy policy and imprint are delivered as legally solid templates adapted to your business; final legal review remains your responsibility.

Where is the data stored?

Primarily EU data centres: Vercel Frankfurt for hosting, Resend EU region for contact-form delivery. Where US vendors are involved, EU Standard Contractual Clauses plus the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework apply. For clients with elevated compliance requirements (law firms, healthcare) I can assemble a pure-EU stack without US subprocessors on request.

Working Together

You're a one-person shop, what if you fall ill?

A fair concern worth answering openly: a solo operation has no second-tier team.

Technical safety net: every project lives as full source in your Git repo and runs on your own Vercel/domain infrastructure, any Next.js developer can take over. No lock-in.

Operational safety net: short-term incapacity pauses retainer SLAs with clear communication. For longer absences there is a hand-off plan to two cooperating colleagues (names named in the contract).

Do you only work in Munich and Fürstenfeldbruck?

Base is Fürstenfeldbruck, projects run DACH-wide and internationally. On-site kick-off and sign-off meetings happily in Munich, Augsburg and wider Upper Bavaria. Everything else runs remote, web projects have defaulted to that for years and it saves you travel surcharges. International clients get the English site (/en/) and an EN business workflow.

What's the best way to get in touch?

Fastest route: the contact form or direct email to hello@webgentic.de. Within 24 business hours you'll get a reply with follow-up questions or an honest first assessment by email. Alternatively, build a non-binding budget ticket in five steps via /en/configurator.
